Welcome to The Works of Rie Muñoz Art Auction hosted by Alaska Premier Auctions & Appraisals! This landmark auction celebrates the life, vision, and artistic legacy of beloved Alaska artist Rie Muñoz. Featuring over 140 lots drawn from multiple decades of the artist’s career, the sale offers an extraordinary opportunity to acquire original watercolor paintings, artist proofs, serigraphs, tapestries, conceptual studies, hand-cut stencil material, works-in-progress, and rare experimental pieces spanning from the 1960s through the early 2000s. Carefully curated to progress chronologically through the artist’s career, the catalog begins with scarce early works from the 1960s and follows the evolution of Muñoz’s style, themes, and technical process across more than four decades of production. Alongside iconic published imagery are unpublished concepts, proof material, developmental studies, and studio works that provide a rare glimpse into the creative progression of one of Alaska’s most celebrated visual storytellers. The auction concludes with a special selection of objects from Rie Muñoz’s personal collection, including ivory carvings, dolls, and other pieces of Alaskana gathered throughout her travels and experiences across the state. Many of these items were acquired during the artist’s time spent in King Island communities and reflect the deep cultural connections and inspirations that would later influence her artwork. Every lot opens at just $5 and is offered without reserve. We invite collectors, institutions, admirers of Alaska art, and first-time buyers alike to explore this exceptional offering. AUCTION CLOSING:  This auction opened for bidding on May 17th and will begin to close at 4:00 pm AKDT on Sunday, May 24th. It features a soft close of 2 lots per minute. If a bid is placed in the final minute, that lot will be extended an additional 60 seconds until no other bids are placed and the lot is sold.
