 he  American Bald Eagle Foundation Taxidermy Auction\, an ex
 ceptional offering with a documented history spanning more t
 han half a century. The collection traces principally to Fre
 d Kelsey Koken (1938-2024)\, a longtime Juneau resident\, stoc
 kbroker\, conservation-minded sportsman\, and lifelong member 
 of Safari Club International. Koken’s international huntin
 g began by 1965\, when he and his father hunted high-altitude
  Himalayan brown bears in Asia. Over approximately five deca
 des\, he traveled and hunted throughout North America\, Asia a
 nd Africa\, assembling an extensive collection of game animal
 s from some of the world’s most remote regions. Koken had 
 a particular passion for mountain sheep and achieved both th
 e North American Grand Slam and World Slam of Wild Sheep. Hi
 s collection included examples from across North America and
  Asia\, together with African predators\, antelope\, buffalo an
 d other international game. Seeking to make the collection e
 ducationally accessible\, Koken established the Southeast Ala
 ska Museum of Natural History through the Fred K. Koken Educ
 ational Foundation. Located at his Auke Bay residence\, the a
 ppointment-only museum welcomed school groups and other visi
 tors for firsthand instruction about wildlife from around th
 e world. Its dramatic displays included a towering assemblag
 e of international sheep and major habitat dioramas depictin
 g an African lion with Cape buffalo and a leopard with impal
 a. In 2014\, Koken donated the museum’s approximately 62 fu
 ll-body mounts to the American Bald Eagle Foundation in Hain
 es. He expressed a desire for the collection to remain in So
 utheast Alaska and to continue serving an educational purpos
 e through an organization with a similar mission. The collec
 tion thereafter became part of the American Bald Eagle Found
 ation’s extensive natural history holdings. Highlights of
