SUMMARY:Fall 2026 Premier Auction
LOCATION:325 W Potter Dr.\, Anchorage\, AK 99518 \, US
DESCRIPTION:Alaska Premier Auctions & Appraisals is pleased to present t
he Fall 2026 Premier Auction! Bringing together 350 lots of
Alaskan art\, Alaska Native carvings and artifacts\, natural g
old\, fine jewelry\, historical objects\, and international ant
iques\, this Premier offering rewards a closer look. Behind m
any of its most compelling pieces are personal histories: an
early portrait of the hunter who helped shape Fred Machetan
z’s experience of Alaska\, a gold pocket watch passed down
through the family of an SS Princess Sophia victim\, and a co
llection of Dale DeArmond prints with direct ties to the per
sonal collection of her longtime friend and fellow artist\, R
ie Muñoz. The range is equally memorable. A substantial nat
ural Alaskan gold nugget joins an elaborate Denise Wallace t
ransformation mask\, a complete suite of DeArmond’s Nondalt
 on Legends\, territorial-era paintings\, remarkable Arctic car
vings\, and objects spanning centuries of northern life. Beyo
nd Alaska\, collectors will find Meiji Japanese metalwork and
  ceramics\, Chinese export silver\, European sculpture\, Salvad
or Dalí engravings\, and high-end tube audio equipment. This
LIVE-ONLINE simulcast sale differs from our typical online
auctions. Pre-bidding will remain available until the live s
ale begins. At the scheduled start time\, we will go LIVE thr
ough a video and audio broadcast\, offering lots individually
and accepting competing bids in real time through our aucti
on platform and participating third-party auction platforms.
If you cannot join the live broadcast\, PLEASE leave your ma
ximum bids in advance so you do not miss the opportunity to
compete for your favorites. Highlights of this auction inclu
de: An important 1946 Fred Machetanz oil painting\, Accibuck.
Painted during the artist’s postwar return to Alaska\, thi
s portrait depicts a friend\, hunter\, and storyteller from hi
s earliest years in Unalakleet. Believed to be the original
color oil study for Accibuk the Seal Hunter\, the first of hi
s fifty stone lithographs\, it offers a compelling connection
to the beginnings of one of his most enduring bodies of wor
 k. Denise Wallace’s elaborate 1987 Man’s Mask. Signed\, d
ated\, and marked “#1\,” this remarkable early work combin
es hammered copper\, carved wood\, scrimshaw\, and miniature tu
sk carvings. Its hinged outer face opens to reveal a finely
carved wolf within. Acquired directly from the artist and su
bsequently passed down through the original owning family\, i
t presents an exceptionally unusual opportunity to collect W
 allace’s work in a substantial sculptural format. A 6.12-t
roy-ounce natural Alaskan gold nugget\, weighing approximatel
y 190.35 grams. Its substantial mass\, deeply textured surfac
e\, and rugged three-dimensional form make it a commanding sp
ecimen of Interior Alaska placer gold. The complete twelve-p
art Nondalton Legends series by Dale DeArmond\, represented b
y signed artist’s proofs and offered in twelve consecutive
lots. Based on Dena’ina oral narratives\, the series comes
from a distinguished private collection whose supplied hist
ory identifies the set as having come directly from Rie Muñ
oz’s personal collection. An extensive additional selectio
n of Dale DeArmond and Rie Muñoz works\, including early woo
dcuts\, artist’s proofs\, and several DeArmond prints accomp
anied by their original carved printing blocks. The group in
cludes Speak\, Brother Raven\, Taku\, Skunk Cabbage\, and the aw
ard-winning Spring Comes to Gambell Village. John Fraser Pug
h’s 18-karat gold IWC Stuyvesant pocket watch. The U.S. Co
llector of Customs for the District of Alaska lost his life
in the 1918 sinking of the SS Princess Sophia. Offered by hi
s direct descendants\, the engraved watch preserves a deeply
personal connection to one of the North’s most consequenti
al maritime tragedies. An original James Kivetoruk Moses dra
wing of a hunter amid broken Arctic sea ice\, executed in pen
cil\, ink\, and watercolor. The compact panoramic composition
combines vivid color with closely observed hunting equipment
\, shifting water\, and the isolation of its central figure. O
riginal paintings and drawings by notable Alaskan artists\, i
ncluding Byron Birdsall\, Norman Lowell\, Scott McDaniel\, Jon
Van Zyle\, Joan Arend Kickbush\, Ernest Robertson\, George Ahgu
puk\, and Florence Nupok Malewotkuk. Subjects range from hist
oric towns and mountain landscapes to hunting\, village life\,
  and Arctic wildlife. A 21.6-kilogram Alaskan gold-in-quartz
specimen from Petersville\, displaying more than twenty visi
ble occurrences of native gold and an open pocket of quartz
crystals. Presented on a natural moose-antler base\, this sub
stantial specimen combines Alaska mining history with striki
ng geological character. Fine jewelry led by an approximatel
 y 179-carat Australian opal pendant on a substantial 14-kara
 t gold chain\, a 10 CTW graduated diamond rivière necklace\,
a diamond platinum bracelet\, natural Alaskan gold nugget jew
elry\, and a Rolex Datejust reference 16013. An engaging grou
 p of Denise Wallace jewelry\, including a “Killer Whale / W
olf Transformation” bracelet\, figural rings\, and scrimshaw
